"There is a limit to what we can do": reserve major on Ukraine's withdrawal from Chasiv Yar
Oleksiy Hetman, a veteran and reserve major of Ukraine's National Guard, notes that Russian troops had moved a large amount of manpower and equipment to Chasiv Yar
He shared the infromation on Espreso TV.
"The Russians have moved a large amount of manpower and equipment into Chasiv Yar, using aircraft and leveling it to the ground. Holding defense in a destroyed city is even worse than somewhere in the field. A month ago, the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine assumed that it was quite possible that we would have to withdraw from this position. Because the forces and means used by the Russians there far outweigh our capabilities," noted Hetman.
According to the reserve major, Russian forces are suffering heavy losses in Chasiv Yar.
"It is clear that we would not want to withdraw from the city, it is a dominant height. It is difficult to storm the city, but there is a limit to what we can do. We assume that we may have to withdraw from Chasiv Yar, given the power of Russian attacks, the number of guided bombs and shells. If the intensity of the fighting continues, we will need to bring reserves there, and we do not have enough reserves," added Hetman.
- Ruslan Mykula, co-founder and analyst of the DeepState project, noted the Kanal neighborhood in Chasiv Yar was completely destroyed.
- The editor-in-chief of Suspilne Donbas, Andriy Kramchenkov, noted that the Pokrovsk-Konstiantynivka highway, which feeds a huge chunk of the front, could be under Russian fire control.
