Military expert explains why Russia is trying to seize spoil tips around Avdiivka
Defense Express CEO Serhiy Zgurets noted that Ukrainian artillery and FPV drones do not allow the Russian soldiers to actively operate on the Avdiivka spoil tips
He said this on the Espreso TV channel.
"Spoil tips are an accumulation of waste materials that are the remains of the Avdiivka Coke Plant. The spoil tip is a height that allows drone operators or snipers to control the territory and be the eyes of the offensive units. It makes no sense to have combat positions and fortifications on the spoil tip," said Zgurets.
According to the military expert, Ukrainian artillery and FPV drones do not allow the Russian troops to actively operate on the spoil tips.
"The fact that the Russian army has entered the northern outskirts of the spoil tip worsens Ukraine's tactical position. But we see that Ukrainian artillery and FPV drones do not allow them to operate actively there. They are constantly being destroyed by the Defense Forces. The Avdiivka Coke Plant and the railroad, which is visible from this spoil tip, are of greater importance," emphasized Zgurets.
