Kremlin’s biggest fear is to be isolated – diplomat Omelyan
Volodymyr Omelyan, diplomat, Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine (2016-2019), serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, believes that the stories that Russia is ready to be isolated from the rest of the world are lies
He shared his opinion on Espreso TV.
"I said in 2014, and I'm not tired of repeating it now, that the Kremlin must be destroyed. Peace will come when the Russian state collapses. As for Lavrov's statements, they can be explained very simply: these are the Kremlin's phantom pains. Moscow is most of all afraid of being isolated. When they say that Russia is engaged in import substitution and is ready to be isolated from the rest of the world, it is a lie. The Kremlin's biggest fear is to be isolated," the former minister emphasized.
Volodymyr Omelyan explained that the Kremlin is watching what is happening with China very carefully. Moscow understands that Beijing is dissatisfied with the current events, that the "lightning" war has turned into a protracted one.
"Putin said he was ready for a war for years, and this does not suit Beijing at all. And the whole world is already tired of this adventure, hopefully the Kremlin's last adventure. Therefore, we see a situation where the dialogue with China continues. The difficult role of a negotiator again fell to Macron, who has been persistently trying to find some kind of contact with Putin. And now the West is trying to build the same structure in the hope that Xi will come to his senses and think about the future. I'm sceptical that this will work, but we have to try. The West is trying to explain to Beijing that economic cooperation is much more profitable than trying to seize Taiwan or declare war on the West," Omelyan said.
