International legislation completely destroyed in 2022 – Ukraine’s ex-MP Firsov
Yehor Firsov, a Ukrainian serviceman and former MP, believes that today there are no international agreements and institutions to rely on, as they have all been destroyed
He expressed this opinion on Espreso TV.
“As a person from the frontline, I look at the world differently. Since 2014, there has been no international law at all, because one of the key countries has brutally violated it. Back in 2014, the world reacted very poorly, and now in 2022, international law has been completely destroyed. That is, we can forget about all the Geneva Conventions and all international agreements after World War II, because one of the players ignores all this and does not fulfill anything,” the lawmaker noted.
Yehor Firsov noted that the world is making a huge mistake in believing that there is still some way to reach an agreement with Russia.
“The world is reacting very poorly to Russia's terrorist aggression. Besides, there is a different world. We know the world of the West, which actively helps us, we appreciate it and will never forget it. But there is also China, which poses no less of a danger because it legitimizes the actions of a terrorist country. There is also India, which remains neutral on the war in Ukraine. There are African countries that may not be as influential, but sometimes their positions play in favor of the aggressor country. Therefore, two conclusions can be drawn here: the first is that there are no international agreements and institutions to rely on, because they have been destroyed, and the second is that we can only rely on ourselves, on the Ukrainians' own forces, who are now defending the country and doing everything to ensure that the enemy is destroyed,” Firsov emphasized
