Germany’s foreign minister speaks in favour of continuing supply of air defense and heavy weapons to Ukraine
German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock confirmed the need for further supplies of air defense and tanks to Ukraine after a visit to Kharkiv
According to the minister, Ukraine needs "further air defense", especially for the protection of infrastructure, Deutschlandfunk reported with reference to Baerbock's statement.
She also urged Ukraine's allies to continue supplying heavy weapons.
"This is necessary in order to be able to liberate other cities," Germany’s foreign minister said after her visit to Kharkiv.
At the same time, Baerbock did not answer whether Germany is going to send Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine. She referred to constant coordination with allies.
On January 10, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Germany met with his Ukrainian counterpart Dmytro Kuleba. Together they visited a substation and children's hospital in Kharkiv.

On January 8, the Bundestag members called for Leopard to be handed over to Ukraine. President of European Parliament Metsola supports transfer of these tanks to Kyiv.

On January 10, Politico reported that France and Poland are trying to convince Germany to unblock supply of modern Leopard 2 battle tanks to Ukraine.
