He shared the information on Espreso TV.

"The situation on the occupied part of Dnipro’s left bank is critical and catastrophic. As a result of the Kakhovka HPP dam destruction, which took place at 5 am, the occupied Oleshky and Hola Prystan were flooded. In the morning, people were leaving their homes and the water already reached above their waists. Many people in these settlements had no information because the occupiers blocked this information. People who stayed in their homes were trapped in water," emphasized Khlan.

According to the deputy of the Kherson Regional Council, the number of dead people in the occupied part of the left bank of Kherson region will be catastrophic.

"Today, a large number of casualties are recorded in the occupied Kherson region. It is reported that 67 burials of local residents who died are already planned in Oleshky. The bodies have already been identified and people will be buried today. I believe that the number of dead people on the left bank of the occupied Kherson region will be catastrophic. And all this is due to the fact that the occupiers blocked the evacuation of people and did not allow people to evacuate by shooting at boats moving towards Kherson," emphasized Khlan.

  • On June 6, Russian occupying forces blew up the Kakhovka HPP, completely destroying it.  The tragedy resulted in the flooding of settlements in the Kherson region, including Kherson city. There are also reports of flooding in Mykolaiv, Dnipropetrovsk, and Zaporizhzhia regions, resulting in fish pestilence. Follow the detailed course of events here.

  • The Kakhovka dam explosion resulted in the loss of lives, with 17 known fatalities as of June 18.

  • On June 17, as a result of Russian troops destroying the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant, the Velykyi Luh and Kamianska Sich National Parks are gradually turning into a desert.

  • Due to the destruction of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant, 147 cultural and art education institutions in Kherson and Mykolaiv regions are at risk.

  • On June 18, Ukraine's Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko reported that 17 people were killed as a result of the Russian military's explosion of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant and the flooding of the Kherson region.

  • At least 500 people may have died in the temporarily occupied Oleshky, on the left bank of the Kherson region.
