Bakhmut is good furnace to destroy enemy – military expert Svitan
Roman Svitan, military expert, AFU retired colonel, military pilot-instructor, noted that in the area of Bakhmut Ukrainian troops caught the enemy in a deadly trap
He spoke about this on Espreso TV.
"We are not holding Bakhmut, we are holding a certain defense line that runs along the left bank of the Bakhmutka River. Bakhmut is a destroyed city which is now being used as a defense line. It's a fairly stable line, covered by our artillery, which keeps the Russian army's powerful offensive from the real redoubt located in the city itself. We are holding our positions quite well. At the moment, there are no problems for our Bakhmut garrison: the Russian advance from the north and south has been stopped, the enemy has been thrown back at some positions, and several supply chains are working. To the west of Bakhmut, there is another defense line, and if there is a very big problem, we will simply withdraw, as we did in the Soledar area. Accordingly, there are absolutely no problems in strategic terms," explained the military expert.
Roman Svitan added that the main task of the army is to destroy the enemy wherever it is. And in the area of Bakhmut, the enemies are gathering from all over Russia, traveling 7,000 kilometers themselves to see Bakhmut and die. In such a way Ukrainian military have caught them in a deadly trap.
"Speaking generally about the front line, which is hot everywhere and getting hotter every day, the Russian forces are coming in arithmetically, not all of them have come in yet, and in a week or two the Russian army will peak its offensive. They will try to advance on 200 kilometers of the front, at least from Vuhledar to Kupiansk. Perhaps they will add the Zaporizhzhia direction as a distraction to attack our troops. And in Bakhmut, the enemy reached certain borders, where our troops stopped him. Bakhmut is currently a good furnace for the destruction of Russian troops," emphasized Svitan.
