Norway approves increase in aid to Ukraine to almost $8 billion
Norway's parliament boosts Ukraine's support to 85 billion NOK for 2025, with military aid being the top priority
The Norwegian government approved an increase in aid to Ukraine to nearly $8 billion
On April 4, the Norwegian government discussed and approved an increase in aid to Ukraine this year to 85 billion Norwegian krone ($7.8 billion).
This was reported by Norway's Minister of Finance, Jens Stoltenberg, according to NRK.
The Norwegian government approved a support package totaling 50 billion Norwegian krone, in addition to the previous 35 billion Norwegian krone. Thus, the total funding for Ukraine's support this year amounts to 85 billion Norwegian krone.
“We are tripling military support,” said Stoltenberg.
He noted that the money would be used abroad, so it would not put pressure on the Norwegian economy.
In February, Norway announced a €300 million aid package for Ukrainian energy and the opening of a direct investment channel into the country's industry.
At the beginning of March, the Norwegian parliament decided to increase support to Ukraine to 85 billion Norwegian krone (almost $8 billion) in 2025. Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre called this a contribution to peace and stability in Europe.
