Netherlands to invest €700 million in Ukrainian drones to boost defense industry
The Netherlands will continue to support Ukraine in the war against Russia and is ready to invest in drone production
Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof stated this on the social media platform X.
According to the statement, he discussed with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy the developments following the summit in London. The parties touched on the issue of investments in drone production.
“We discussed, among other things, the Netherlands’ €700 million investment package in drones, partially aimed at Ukraine’s defense industry,” Schoof wrote.
He added that Amsterdam will continue to support Ukraine, including by providing military aid.
In turn, President Zelenskyy confirmed his conversation with Schoof and noted that the Netherlands is preparing new military and financial aid packages for Ukraine. He informed his counterpart about Ukraine’s priority needs.
“We discussed coordination with partners and the preparation of a joint plan. The first steps toward achieving a just peace are extremely important. We want to take them as soon as possible in cooperation with the U.S. and all of Europe,” the president emphasized.
- In February, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine is a global leader in drone production.
- On March 5, the Commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces, Vadym Sukharevskyi, expressed the opinion that no NATO country would be able to withstand the sheer number of drones that Russia is using against Ukraine.
