No NATO army ready for modern warfare - commander of the UAV forces
The Commander of the UAV Forces, Vadym Sukharevskyy, believes that no NATO country would be able to withstand the number of drones that Russia is using against Ukraine
He stated this in an interview with Reuters.
"From what I see and hear, no NATO army is ready to counter a cascade of drones," the military official said.
According to the commander of the UAV forces, the Ukrainian army has been striving for technological superiority over the Russia for the fourth consecutive year, using artificial intelligence and testing lasers to neutralize Russian drones.
Sukharevskyy noted that NATO must acknowledge the economic advantage of drones, whose production is often cheaper than conventional weapons.
"It's just elementary mathematics. How much does a missile that shoots down a (Russian) Shahed (drone) cost? And how much does it cost to deploy a ship, a plane and an air defense system to fire at it?" he said.
The colonel referred to the words of the Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Oleksandr Syrskyy, who stated that more than 60% of targets are now hit by drones.
"If it wasn’t for drones, everything would be a lot worse. Drones are the things which allow us to give an asymmetrical response (when) the enemy is larger, stronger and on the attack," Sukharevsky said.
- The EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, emphasizes NATO membership would be the only effective security guarantee for Ukraine.
