Germany confirms “intensive talks” with U.S. on Patriot systems for Ukraine
Germany is conducting "intensive talks" with the U.S. to provide Ukraine with Patriot air defense systems amid Russia’s ongoing massive attacks and Washington’s pause in some arms deliveries

German government spokesperson Stefan Kornelius announced this, reports Bloomberg.
When asked if Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s government is negotiating with the U.S. to purchase Patriot systems for Kyiv, Kornelius said there are “different ways” to meet Ukraine’s air defense needs.
“I can say that intensive discussions are indeed taking place on this matter,” he added.
- On Wednesday, July 2, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine and the United States are currently clarifying all the details of defense support supplies at the working level, including air defense components.
- On July 3, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the EU cannot fully replace the U.S. support, particularly regarding the supply of Patriot PAC-3 missiles and air defense systems.
