US-made F-16 fighter jets intercept missiles in August 26 Russian attack
Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that the Ukrainian military used F-16 fighter jets to shoot down some Russian missiles during a massive attack on August 26

He shared this information at the "Ukraine 2024. Independence" forum on August 27.
"F-16s have proven to be very effective, as we've discussed before. During the recent Russian missile attack on August 26, we managed to intercept some missiles with the help of these jets. We are grateful to our partners for supplying us with F-16s,” the president said.
Zelenskyy also mentioned that Ukraine does not have many F-16s yet, and the current number is insufficient.
“We have made proposals to the United States, and our progress depends on their approval,” the president concluded.
- On the evening of August 25, the Russian army launched attack UAVs on the territory of Ukraine. On the morning of August 26, 11 Russian Tu-95MS and Tu-22M3 aircraft were spotted. The attack resulted in deaths and injuries, and destruction in various regions. Russia has launched 127 missiles of various types and 109 drones at Ukraine.
