AFU General Staff briefing: Fierce fighting for Bakhmut and Marinka; invaders boost Russian passports issuance in Donetsk region

In the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk region, the invaders have intensified the issuance of Russian passports, and in Kherson region they are forcing residents to re-register their cars in the Russian format

The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported this in a morning briefing on April 14.

The Russian Federation continues to impose the so-called passportization on Ukrainian citizens. In certain settlements of Kakhovka district, Kherson region, the occupiers are forcing people to re-register their vehicles under Russian regulations, which requires owners to have Russian passports.

In Donetsk region, it is known that departments of the Russian migration service work seven days a week. Civil servants and military personnel of the first army corps are prioritized.

The fiercest battles take place in Bakhmut and Marinka, Ukrainian Armed Forces repel 49 attacks in one day

Despite suffering significant losses, Russia is not giving up on its plans to occupy the territory of Ukraine, focusing on offensive operations in the Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Marinka directions. 

The fiercest fighting continues for Bakhmut and Marinka. 

On April 13, Ukrainian defenders repelled 49 Russian attacks.

Russia carried out 19 air strikes and launched 39 MLRS attacks on Ukraine over the day, there are casualties

The Russian Federation continues to ignore international humanitarian law, attacking not only the positions of Ukrainian troops, but also the civilian infrastructure.

Over the past day, the Russian forces conducted 19 air strikes, fired 39 times from multiple launch rocket systems, causing civilian casualties.

Situation in the following sectors

The operational situation on the Northern and Northeastern Ukrainian borders remains unchanged, and no signs of enemy offensive groups have been detected. 

Some units of the Russian territorial troops continue their deployment in Belarus.

Russian forces keep certain units in the Kursk and Belgorod regions bordering Ukraine.

Over the past day, the Russian enemy attacked 1 settlement in Chernihiv region; 3 in Sumy region, and 7 in Kharkiv region.

In the Kupyansk direction, 6 localities in the Kharkiv region came under hostile fire.

In the Lyman direction, Russian invaders carried out unsuccessful offensives near Dibrova and Bilohorivka over the past day.  

Five localities in the Luhansk region and one in Donetsk region came under artillery fire.

The Russian occupying forces continue their offensive actions in the Bakhmut direction. Heavy fighting  is ongoing for the town of Bakhmut.

The Russian troops conducted unsuccessful attacks in the area of Bohdanivka and Predtechyno. 

The enemy shelling affected 13 localities in the Donetsk region.

In the Avdiivka direction, the Russian army carried out unsuccessful offensives in the direction of Sievierne, firing artillery at 7 localities in Donetsk region.

In the Marinka direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled numerous enemy attacks in the vicinity of Marinka, Donetsk region, over the past day. 

Five localities in the Donetsk region came under Russian fire.

In the Vuhledar direction, the Russian army did not initiate any offensive actions yesterday. They assaulted 6 localities in the Donetsk region.

The Russian Federation continues to be on the defensive in the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions

The Russian forces stormed settlements near the frontline, including 10 localities in Zaporizhzhia region; 2 in Kherson region and the city of Kherson.

Ukrainian Armed Forces hit 3 command posts, an electronic warfare station and several invaders' concentration points

Over the past day, the aviation of the Defense Forces carried out 3 strikes on the areas of the occupiers' personnel and military equipment concentration.

Missile and artillery units hit 3 command posts, 3 areas of enemy manpower, weapons and military equipment concentration, an ammunition depot, as well as a radar and electronic warfare station.
