After Kakhovka dam destruction, Russians blow up dam on Mokri Yaly river, Donetsk region
Invading Russian forces have blown up a dam on the Mokri Yaly River in the Donetsk region, causing flooding on both banks
On June 11, the spokesman for the Tavria Defense Forces, Valeriy Shershen, said this in a comment to Ukrainska Pravda.
“Occupying forces blew up a dam on the Mokri Yaly River, which led to flooding on both banks. However, this does not affect the offensive actions of the Tavria Defense Forces,” the spokesman said.
According to him, the Russians are trying to slow down Ukraine's counteroffensive by blowing up the hydroelectric facilities. However, this does not affect the advance of the Defense Forces.
“First, the occupiers blew up the Karlivka reservoir, then the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant, then they blew up other hydroelectric facilities in the occupied part of the Zaporizhzhia region. In the Zaporizhzhia region, they expected a breakthrough by the Defense Forces, so to slow down our advance, they resorted to this tactic when they blew up the hydroelectric facility on the Mokri Yaly River again,” noted Shershen.
He also added that in the Tavria sector, the Defense Forces have switched from defense to offense. The villages of Blahodatne, Neskuchne and Makarivka have already been liberated.
