Zelenskyy: Ukrainian-made weapon hits target 700 km away
Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has discussed domestic arms production with top military leadership. The Ministry of Strategic Industry reported that a long-range weapon made in Ukraine hit a target 700 km away.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced this on 31 August on Telegram.
Valerii Zaluzhnyi, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, spoke at the meeting and described the situation on the battlefield, defensive and offensive actions.
In turn, the Ministry of Defence reported on the receipt of weapons and ammunition.
"In particular, the receipt of a large batch of armored medevacs (armored medical vehicles - ed.) is something that is very much needed now," Zelenskyy said.
The Ministry of Strategic Industries spoke about its own weapons production.
"Successful use of our long-range weapons: the target was hit 700 kilometers away!" Zelenskyy wrote.
The meeting participants also discussed the work of the grain corridor and preparations for the winter, including the arrangement of shelters and invincibility points.
"The Ministry of Internal Affairs reported on the elimination of the consequences of enemy shelling, the security situation before the start of the new school year," Zelenskyy said.
What is known about Ukraine's own weapons production
Minister for Strategic Industries of Ukraine Oleksandr Kamyshin reported that in June 2023, Ukraine produced more mortar and artillery shells than in the whole of 2022.
Ukraine has also focused on the mass production of combat drones. In particular, it produces maritime drones, which have already taken part in at least two attacks: on the Kerch Bridge in July and on the port of Sevastopol in October last year.
Ukraine has also begun mass production of Rubaka kamikaze drones of operational and strategic importance, which are already proving effective in combat. The new UAVs can cover a distance of up to 500 km.
