He said this in an interview with the Guardian.

Zelenskyy said that at the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Russia offered a so-called peace deal that required a betrayal of Ukrainian national interests.

According to the president, at that time, “messengers” were sent to him, including from the parliamentary corps, who “came and said that tomorrow we would be occupied, we must run.” He also received phone calls from leaders of different countries telling him to leave.

“There was pressure from different sides. There were people who wanted to kill me, there were shots and so on. Some people died here, inside our office... There was an amphibious assault,” Zelenskyy said.

  • In April last year, law enforcement agencies in Ukraine and Poland detained a Pole on suspicion of collaborating with Russian special services and preparing an assassination attempt on President Zelenskyy. In early 2025, the head of Ukraine's State Security Department, Oleksiy Morozov, said that there was no evidence of assassination attempts on the president.
