Zelenskyy meets with newly appointed British defenсe secretary
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a meeting with the newly appointed State Secretary of Defence of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland Grant Shapps
The President's Office reports.
It is noted that Zelenskyy praised the level of cooperation with the United Kingdom in the defence sphere. The leaders also discussed strengthening Ukraine's air defence.
"The parties also praised the adoption by the Group of Seven at the NATO Summit in Vilnius of a Joint Declaration of Support for Ukraine and the start of negotiations with the UK on a bilateral agreement on security guarantees for Ukraine," the statement reads.
In turn, the President of Ukraine thanked the UK for its strong financial, defence, and humanitarian support for Ukraine in the time of war.
"On behalf of the whole nation, I thank you for everything you are doing for us. We are grateful for your help – military, financial, humanitarian. We greatly appreciate that we can rely on you," Zelenskyy said.

Earlier, Zelenskyy accepted credentials from the newly appointed ambassadors of France, the United Kingdom, Canada, Estonia, Hungary, Slovenia and the EU.
