Zelenskyy holds talks with UN Secretary General Guterres in Kyiv
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has met with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Kyiv to discuss the extension of the grain deal and the deportation of Ukrainian children to Russia
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy wrote about this.
“I am pleased to welcome United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and the UN delegation in Kyiv today – for the third time since the beginning of full-scale Russian aggression. It is very important that it is in Kyiv that we are talking about how to restore peace and international security, the full force of the UN Charter – these norms that are equally important for all peoples on earth,” he wrote.
The video released by the president shows the official part of the meeting between Ukraine's representatives, Guterres and the UN delegation.
“Today we are interested in ensuring that there is no hunger in the world, and our common policy is to extend the grain initiative corridor. We also raised the issue of prolonging this initiative, details of how we can further help the world and expand this initiative. There was not enough time, so now we will discuss the issue of deportation of children in a general circle. This is a really hot issue. I would like the details of this issue to be explained by our side,” Zelenskyy said.
The president also noted that the parties had discussed the latest steps on the exchange of prisoners.
