UN Secretary-General Guterres to visit Ukraine to discuss extension of grain deal
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres arrives in Ukraine on Wednesday, March 8, to discuss continuation of the grain deal with Volodymyr Zelenskyy
Reuters reports.
"The Secretary-General has just arrived in Poland on his way to Ukraine," UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric said on Tuesday, March 7.
It is noted that Guterres is traveling with UN aid chief Martin Griffiths and UN trade representative Rebeca Grynspan. The news agency explains that Griffiths negotiated a grain deal with Ukraine, while Grynspan is working to facilitate food and fertilizer exports from Russia.

Earlier, Ukraine's Foreign Ministry said that Russia is strengthening narratives about the inexpediency of the grain deal. Ukraine and its partners are already working to prevent Russia from blocking the grain corridor.

On March 4, it became known that new procedures for the transit of Ukrainian grain through Poland would be introduced to simplify transportation across the border.

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said on Sunday, March 5, that Ankara is making every effort to extend the grain deal.
