Taliban seeks "tangible" progress in bilateral relations following Trump's election victory
Afghanistan's Taliban-led administration expressed optimism about renewing ties with the United States after Donald Trump's recent election win
CNN reported the statement.
Taliban Foreign Ministry spokesman Abdul Qahar Balkhi shared that they hope "the incoming US administration will adopt a pragmatic approach to ensure tangible advancement in bilateral relations, allowing both nations to open a new chapter of relations grounded in mutual engagement."
He highlighted the 2020 Doha Agreement between the Taliban and the U.S., signed during Trump's first term, which he claimed ended “the twenty-year occupation" in Afghanistan.
Balkhi also urged Trump to play a "constructive role in ending the current conflicts" across the Middle East.
