Moldova recovers Russian drone wreckage, summons Russian ambassador
The Moldovan Foreign Ministry summoned Russian Ambassador Oleg Ozerov on February 13 after UAV wreckage was found on Moldovan territory
According to the Moldovan police, two Russian drones were discovered in Moldova. One was found in an agricultural field near the village of Ciumai in the Taraclia district, while the other exploded about 1.5 kilometers from Ceadîr-Lunga.
"Police explosives experts are on site conducting an investigation, after which the drones will be examined in detail," the statement reads.
NewsMaker, citing the Moldovan Foreign Ministry, reported that the ministry condemned the violation of Moldovan airspace by Russian drones. The Russian ambassador-designate was urgently summoned for official explanations.
"These incidents pose a serious threat to the security of our citizens and regional stability. Fortunately, no one was injured, but such violations of Moldova's airspace are unacceptable and cannot be tolerated," the Foreign Ministry stated.
- On the evening of February 12, Russia launched strike drones over Ukraine, damaging port infrastructure in the Odessa region and injuring a woman.
