Reuters reports this, citing China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The military parade in Beijing will be held to mark Japan’s surrender in World War II. According to China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, 26 heads of state and government will participate.

Notably, Putin, Lukashenko, and Kim Jong Un will attend, along with the presidents of Iran and Indonesia and the speaker of South Korea’s National Assembly.

“Against the backdrop of China's growing military might during the ‘Victory Day’ parade on September 3, the three leaders will project a major show of solidarity not just between China and the Global South, but also with sanctions-hit Russia and North Korea,” the outlet notes.

This year’s parade is expected to be the largest in China in recent years, featuring military equipment such as fighter jets, missile defense systems, and hypersonic weapons.

  • Chinese President Xi Jinping also attended the parade in Moscow on May 9 this year.
