French Foreign Ministry calls for sanctions on Russia
French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot has called for sanctions to pressure Russia into agreeing to a ceasefire in Ukraine

The French Foreign Minister said no one seriously believes that "Ukrainians will let the invader strip them of their independence without a fight."
He then underlined the need for sanctions against Russian leader Vladimir Putin to push him to halt the attacks.
"Our responsibility: to sanction V Putin to force him into a ceasefire that paves the way for a lasting peace, in accordance with international law," Barrot said.
- On Tuesday, June 3, former Russian President and current Deputy Chairman of the Security Council Dmitry Medvedev outlined Moscow’s stance on talks with Ukraine, saying the main goal is Russia’s “swift and complete victory,” not compromise.
