Latvian airline AirBaltic has announced its readiness to resume flights to Kyiv, Lviv, and Odesa as soon as it becomes safe.

This was discussed at a meeting of the airline's CEO and president Martin Gauss with the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Oleksandr Kubrakov and Boryspil Airport CEO Oleksiy Dubrevsky, the AirBaltic press service reports.

The meeting took place on March 25 in Kyiv.

"During the visit, airBaltic expressed its readiness to resume flights to Kyiv, Lviv, and Odesa, aiming to reintegrate these cities into its network post-war, once deemed safe," the statement said.

In July 2023, the European airline Ryanair sent a delegation to Kyiv to assess the situation and propose a plan to resume air traffic in the country. Although options were considered to reopen airports in key cities of Ukraine, such as Kyiv, Lviv, Odesa, and Uzhhorod, no concrete decisions were made.

In January 2024, discussions resumed, and Rostyslav Shurma, Deputy Head of the Presidential Office, confirmed during a panel discussion at Ukraine House Davos that work was underway to restore air service.
