Ukraine to become first non-EU country with free roaming for its citizens
The European Commission has approved Ukraine’s accession to the EU’s Roam like at Home policy. Starting in 2026, Ukraine will become part of the single European communications area
Ukraine's Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal reported the information.
Ukrainians will have the opportunity not to pay for roaming when making phone calls and using mobile internet in the territory of the 27 European Union countries.
“We expect that the EU Council will soon approve this decision, and from the beginning of 2026, Ukraine will become part of the single European communications area,” Shmyhal said.
He added that until now, no country outside the European Union has joined the Roam like at Home policy.
“We see this as a high assessment of our European integration efforts,” the official summarized.
On June 17, the European Parliament supported the agreement on freight transport between the European Union and Ukraine, extending it until the end of 2025.
