Ukraine fulfills key condition, begins talks on EU accession — Ukrainian MP
Ukrainian MP Valentyn Nalyvaichenko says that a key condition for joining the EU, which Ukraine has fulfilled, is amending its legislation
He said this in an interview with Espreso's host Yuriy Fizer.
"The key condition that Ukraine has fulfilled is changes to legislation. This is the result of the work of the Committee on Ukraine's Integration with the EU, as well as the government, where an Office for European Integration has been established. In every legislative and executive body, there are relevant departments and specialists who work daily on issues of Ukraine's integration into the EU.
Institutionally, the anti-corruption infrastructure is extremely important, in particular the High Anti-Corruption Court, NABU, and NACP. Also, each ministry has appointed a deputy responsible for European integration, and the regulatory framework of each ministry and agency is constantly updated in accordance with new laws adopted by parliament for Ukraine's integration into the EU," Nalyvaichenko explained.
According to the secretary of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Ukraine's Integration with the EU, another important institutional achievement is the creation of negotiating groups for each area.
"At the initial stage, 11 areas were discussed with the European Commission. Negotiating groups have already been formed for each of them, and after Easter, as we hope, they will begin negotiations on specific sectors, taking into account the interests of Ukraine, the interests of the EU, and the issue of Ukraine's accession to the European Union. These institutional changes indicate that Ukraine, as an EU candidate country: A - is truly ready, and B - is beginning negotiations on joining the European Union," Nalyvaichenko emphasized.
- The Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration, Minister of Justice Olha Stefanishyna, assured that in 2030 Ukraine will be a member of the European Union, adding that this decision has, in fact, already been made.
