Ukraine among key topics on NATO summit agenda - Rutte
During the NATO summit in The Hague on June 25, state leaders will focus on defense spending and strengthening the defense industry. At the same time, Ukraine will also be on the agenda
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte stated this, according to Ukrinform.
He said that Ukraine would be a major topic, and that they would discuss how to ensure Ukraine could continue to rely on the support of NATO countries in the coming years to keep fighting, as well as how to lead Ukraine toward a sustainable and lasting peace.
According to Rutte, today’s meeting will be a “summit of transformation,” as Alliance countries face new security challenges — including Russia’s war against Ukraine, China’s military buildup, and more.
The Secretary General emphasized that allies must ensure they have sufficient industrial capacity to produce the necessary amount of ammunition and all other types of military equipment to defend their territories and citizens.
- On June 24, the NATO summit began in The Hague, bringing together leaders of the Alliance’s 32 member states and partners. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held meetings with the NATO Secretary General, the Dutch Prime Minister, U.S. senators, and the French President.
