Trump's actions weaken security, Europe unsafe Without Ukraine in NATO – Polish journalist
Only Ukraine’s accession to NATO will ensure lasting security across the entire European continent
Polish journalist Marek Sierant shared his opinions with Espreso TV.
"Today, there is simply no alternative to NATO. There is no better security system than NATO. Therefore, there is no alternative for Ukraine to ensure its own security except NATO. Everyone must understand this — Ukraine must be in NATO. There is no war where the Alliance is present," Sierant explained.
The journalist emphasized that Europe will only be truly protected if Ukraine becomes a member of NATO. In contrast, he warned that the actions of Donald Trump’s administration risk undermining the entire European security architecture.
“What Donald Trump’s administration is doing today does not align with the broader concept of security for Europe and Ukraine. Only when Ukraine is in NATO can we genuinely speak about the security of Europe. This is about stability and safety across the entire continent — not just in Ukraine, but throughout Europe,” he added.
- Russian leader Vladimir Putin is reportedly demanding the formal exclusion of former Soviet states — including Georgia and Moldova — from ever joining NATO in exchange for ending the war in Ukraine.
- Donald Trump’s special representative, Keith Kellogg, says that the United States is ready to discuss Russia’s demands regarding the non-expansion of NATO to the east.
- On May 30, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan says that NATO does not have a unified opinion regarding Ukraine's membership, and discussions within the Alliance have been ongoing for a long time.
