Trump made the statement at a joint press conference with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, according to Bloomberg and Clash Report.

“One of them (Russia’s war against Ukraine – ed.), which I thought would be the easiest (to resolve) because of my relationship with President Putin, but he let me down, he really let me down,” Trump said.

He added that the Kremlin leader “is killing a lot of people and losing more people than he kills.”

“Frankly, more Russian soldiers are dying than Ukrainian,” the U.S. president said.

At the same time, Starmer said Putin had “shown his true face,” and stressed that Washington and London are working together to end the war in Ukraine.

Later, while speaking with journalists aboard Air Force One, the American president admitted that "it doesn't feel like the time to ask Putin for a ceasefire."
