Macron: Seizing frozen Russian assets would violate international law

He said this in an interview with CBS.

According to Macron, holding frozen Russian assets in European countries is a matter of trust.

"Regarding the frozen assets, we are all very much attached to being compliant with international rules, and you cannot simply take these assets from the Central Bank, even in such a situation. I think it's a matter of credibility, and it's very important that our countries remain guarantors and do respect international law... We will respect international law. We are predictable, and we will not do all impossible things with these frozen assets," he said.

At the same time, the French president stressed that Russia is violating international law.
