Talks with Ukrainian PM
During his visit to Kyiv, Estonian Prime Minister Kristen Michal held talks with his Ukrainian counterpart Denys Shmyhal. This was highlighted by the head of the Ukrainian government on his Telegram channel.
"I’m pleased to welcome Estonian Prime Minister Kristen Michal to Kyiv. This is his first official visit to Ukraine, marking another important step in strengthening our comprehensive partnership," noted Shmyhal.
The talks covered several key areas:
Security and defense: Estonia initiated the creation of a coalition on ammunition, an IT coalition, and the Tallinn Cyber Support Mechanism for Ukraine. Shmyhal emphasized the importance of Ukraine joining the Nordic-Baltic region's Joint Expeditionary Forces.

The development of a Recovery Plan for Ukraine's maritime sector and a mechanism to compensate for damages with Russian assets were also discussed.
Energy: Through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism, Estonia provided Ukraine with over 140 transformers and 300 units of energy equipment. A new energy block from the Auvere power plant will soon provide electricity to 150,000 people in Ukraine, with plans to transfer two more energy blocks in 2025.
Efforts for a just peace: Leaders discussed the next steps for implementing Ukraine’s Peace Formula proposed by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, as well as preparations for the second Global Summit aimed at achieving peace.
