Why agreeing not to attack energy infrastructure matters

Recently, France and the United Kingdom proposed a plan, including a mutual one-month cessation of attacks on energy infrastructure

The initiative should be led by Ukraine, as if it is the first to announce a cessation of attacks on energy infrastructure located in Russia, it would provide the following advantages:

  • Ukraine will seize the initiative in achieving peace and destroy the fake arguments of the White House and the Kremlin that it does not want peace.
  • Russia will fall into a trap, because if it continues to shell energy and civilian targets, the plan to force Ukraine, along with the Trump administration, to implement the so-called Istanbul peace plan will no longer work.
  • “The White House will no longer have arguments not to provide Ukraine with weapons and intelligence. “
  • The balance of mutual attacks on energy infrastructure has not been in Ukraine's favor, as Russia currently possesses much more powerful missile and space forces, as well as an incomparably larger number of energy infrastructure objects on its territory. The negative balance for Ukraine has worsened even further following the halt of military assistance from the United States.
  • If Russia does not support Ukraine's initiative, it will corner itself diplomatically, while Ukraine will lose nothing, as it will have the opportunity during the pause to accumulate more long-range weapons and better prepare for their use.
