West’s indecision encourages Putin to raise stakes – diplomat Chaly

Diplomat Valeriy Chaly believes that the Putin regime may consider a war against NATO as the only way to sit down at the negotiating table

He expressed this opinion on the Espreso TV channel.

"Putin's regime is creating a parallel world - and they believe this lie. They believed that they would capture Kyiv in three days, they did. They started a war against Ukraine and failed. So why can't they start a war against NATO, fail in that war, and come to the negotiating table? Anything is possible," said Chaly.

The diplomat added that NATO should intervene and respond to Russia's terrorist actions in the Black Sea basin

"After the threats to Poland, the issue of force and military pressure on Russia is again being raised. In addition, I would like to hear where are all these hellish sanctions packages, where are the sanctions against Rosatom, which has switched the fourth power unit of the ZNPP on hot shutdown. This means that we are a few hours away from a catastrophe if they want to. The Americans have reached an agreement, for which we are grateful, but they have left the technical capabilities for Putin to stage a terrorist attack on a nuclear power plant that he had before. That is why a force initiative from NATO is important now. We do not need a grain initiative, but only compliance with the rules of free navigation. If NATO and the US are unable to use force to deter Putin, then this is a blow to them, not to us. Therefore, I think they will find the means to put these war criminals in their place," he added.

  • On July 22, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Poland and Lithuania were planning to occupy Ukraine. He called the western territories of Poland a gift from Joseph Stalin.

  • On July 24, the occupying Russian forces switched the fourth reactor unit of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant into a "hot shutdown" state, which is a violation of Ukraine's nuclear legislation.
