Without support for Ukraine, Putin will return in 3-5 years – Zelenskyy
Ukraine needs strong security guarantees from the West and a stronger defense sector, including weapons necessary to defend itself against Russia. Without this, the Kremlin will exploit any potential ceasefire to regroup and resume its aggression
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated this on December 1, during a joint briefing in Kyiv with newly appointed European Council President António Costa, Ukrinform reports.
"If the conflict is frozen without a strong position for Ukraine, Putin will return in 2, 3, or 5 years... it doesn’t depend on us... He will come back and try to destroy us completely," Zelenskyy said.
The president stressed that Ukraine’s position must be strengthened with the support of its partners before any negotiation process begins.
"This means providing the necessary weapons, including long-range missiles, and other points in our plan. We’ve shared this with both our American and European partners," Zelenskyy explained.
He added that, in addition to Ukraine and Russia, representatives from the EU and NATO should be included in any future negotiations.
