Ukrainian missile program aims for rapid expansion, says Zelenskyy
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the goal of Ukraine’s missile program is to accelerate the development of ballistic missiles as much as possible
He made the announcement during his evening address on April 2, following a meeting of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief's Staff.
Zelenskyy said the meeting included reports on the supply of Ukrainian brigades and the staffing of military units.
“And also—very detailed information on Ukraine’s missile program, our missile developments, and production. The task is to accelerate the creation of Ukrainian ballistic missiles to the maximum,” the president said.
According to Zelenskyy, Ukraine’s long-range weaponry serves as a clear and effective guarantee of the country's security.
Additionally, on the same day, Zelenskyy held a separate meeting focused on the development of military aviation.
“Primarily regarding Ukraine’s F-16s. The aircraft already in Ukraine. The aircraft that will soon be in Ukraine. Long-term supply plans. There were personnel decisions made to strengthen military aviation management—both in the Ministry of Defense and in the General Staff. We’re already seeing solid results, and I want to thank everyone working hard to advance our military aviation,” the Ukrainian leader concluded.
Earlier, Minister for Strategic Industries Herman Smetanin confirmed that Ukraine is not only producing a modernized version of the “Long Neptune” missile, but is also regularly using it in the war against Russia.
