Ukraine increases arms production 35-fold since start of full-scale war
Ukrainian Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal has named boosting domestic arms production a top defense priority
He made the statement following a meeting with the Ministry of Defense team and Herman Smetanin, the ex-Minister of Strategic Industry.
Shmyhal thanked Smetanin for his work in strengthening Ukraine’s defense industry. According to the minister, domestic arms production has increased 35-fold since the start of the full-scale war.
“We have the potential to grow even further,” the minister emphasized.
Currently, 40% of weapons used at the front are Ukrainian-made. President Zelenskyy has tasked the defense sector with raising that figure to 50%, including drones, armored vehicles, and ammunition — everything needed by Ukraine’s Armed Forces.
Shmyhal stressed that efforts to grow defense production will continue in close coordination with all responsible agencies.
