CNN learned this from an unnamed source.

The announcement of the $825 million sale of Extended Range Attack Munition (ERAM) missiles came on Thursday, as diplomatic efforts to end the war had yet to yield results and Russian strikes on the Ukrainian capital caused numerous casualties.

The potential sale includes up to 3,350 ERAM missiles and 3,350 GPS/INS EGI systems.

A source familiar with the matter said that if the sale goes through, the missiles, with a range of 150–280 miles (241–450 km), could be delivered later this year.

It is currently unclear whether restrictions on missile use will be imposed.

U.S. officials stated that the sale “supports U.S. foreign policy and national interests by strengthening the security of a partner country that contributes to political stability and economic development in Europe.”

Funding for the sale will come from contributions by Denmark, the Netherlands, and Norway, as well as through the U.S. Foreign Military Financing (FMF) program.
