Denmark, Ukraine agree weapons sale deal for over €361 million
On September 29, Danish Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen met with Ukrainian counterpart Rustem Umerov and Minister of Strategic Industries Herman Smetanin in Kyiv to agree on defense procurement from Ukrainian companies, valued at 4.2 billion Danish kroner (about 361 million euros)
The Danish Ministry of Defense reported.
"It is crucial that we support Ukraine's fight for freedom in every possible way. I am very pleased that Denmark has established a framework with Ukraine on how to best use the 4.2 billion Danish kroner provided by the EU and Denmark,” said Troels Lund Poulsen.
According to the report, the funding will consist of 1.3 billion Danish kroner from the Danish state budget and 2.9 billion Danish kroner from frozen Russian assets on behalf of the EU.
"Denmark is a leader in supplying weapons directly from the Ukrainian defense industry, which strengthens Ukraine's ability to produce the weapons it needs,” he added.
The ministry noted that this agreement continues a successful pilot project in which Denmark has already delivered 18 Ukrainian-made artillery shells to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
