Denmark joins drone coalition
Danish Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen has signed an agreement for Denmark to join the drone coalition supporting Ukraine
This was reported by Denmark's Ministry of Defense.
"The situation in Ukraine remains very serious. Ukrainians unquestionably need continuous and substantial support from allies. Denmark has pledged a decade-long commitment to bolster Ukraine's defense. This agreement underscores our steadfast commitment. Drones play a crucial role in Ukraine's defense, highlighting the importance of international cooperation within the drone coalition," Poulsen stated.
The coalition, led by Latvia, Great Britain, and Ukraine, aims to supply Ukraine with 1 million small attack drones.
Denmark's contributions will primarily focus on facilitating joint procurement projects to address Ukraine's substantial drone requirements.
"We've witnessed a significant rise in drone use since the conflict began in Ukraine. It's essential for Ukraine to have the drones necessary to counter Russian aggression. Strike drones are currently a top priority for Ukraine to level the playing field. Denmark stands ready to make substantial, long-term investments in Ukraine's defense efforts. Their fight for freedom remains our fight," the minister added.
- On July 11, it was announced that the drone coalition has established a fund with over €45 million to support joint purchases for the swift deployment of UAVs to Ukraine, with additional contributions anticipated.
