The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, the country that currently chairs the EU Council, says that in light of Russia's aggression against Ukraine, Brussels needs a new long-term strategy for relations with the Russian Federation

During his speech at the meeting of the heads of the foreign policy departments of the EU states, Mr. Lipavsky noted that the current principles on which European-Russian relations are based need to be changed, because they are outdated.

"We must take into account the new reality of Russia's hostility and be ready to defend ourselves against the Russian threat", the head of the Czech Foreign Ministry said. He also added that this issue will be discussed in more detail in August.
