We don’t plan to let them go further than border, artillery is brought in and everything is mined - Ukrainian general about possible offensive from Belarus
The Ukrainian Defense Forces expect to stop the invaders at the border of Belarus, in case of a repeated attempt to attack Kyiv
This was stated by the commander of the group of forces and means of defense of the capital, Lieutenant General Oleksandr Pavliuk, in an interview at a TV marathon, LIGA.net reports.
Ukraine constantly monitors all the movements of the Russian army, their new deployment points and training grounds, so the military-political leadership will have time to notify citizens in case of a repeated attempt of Russia to attack the capital, he said.
"We have created a group on the border with Belarus, which is ready to meet the enemy with dignity. Kyiv region has prepared for a possible new offensive quite powerfully. These are several borders around Kyiv with a total length of about 1000 km. A powerful defense system has been created on the basis of fortification positions and long-term defensive structures. It will be impossible to pass so easily," Pavliuk emphasized.
Also, the entire border of Ukraine with Belarus is now a "continuous rubble and minefields," and the Russian soldiers will need efforts to pass through them, the general said.
Artillery fire, sniper groups and mobile firing groups are planned to target the Russian troops.
"We don’t plan to let them go further than border," Pavliuk adds.
