War in Ukraine will last long — Scholz
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz suggested that the war in Ukraine will not end in the near future. At the same time, allies must be ready to continue their support
The Chancellor of Germany stated this in an interview with the Rheinische Post.
Scholz noted that he does not expect a quick end to the Russian armed aggression against Ukraine in the near future. At the same time, he urged allies to continue aiding Kyiv.
"We must be prepared for the fact that it may take a long time. Even when the war ends, things will not return to normal immediately. But we must not stop our efforts to end this war either," he said.
Scholz noted that the aggressor country cannot dictate the conditions for peace, while Ukraine must "have the opportunity to protect its integrity and independence."
"We must realize that this terrible war of aggression and its consequences will keep us in tension for a long time and we will have to dig out the rubble for a long time," he emphasized.
