Putin suggests Oreshnik deployment in Belarus in second half of 2025
Russian leader Vladimir Putin says it is possible to deploy the Oreshnik system in Belarus. Russia attacked Ukraine's Dnipro with this missile on November 21
Putin said this on December 6 during a visit to Belarus, TASS reports.
Russia and Belarus signed an agreement on security guarantees with the use of all available forces and means, including tactical nuclear weapons.
"As for the possibility of deploying such a formidable weapon as the Oreshnik on the territory of Belarus: since we have signed an agreement on security guarantees with the use of all available forces and means, I believe that the deployment of such complexes as the Oreshnik on the territory of the Republic of Belarus is possible," the Russian leader said.
According to him, this will become possible in the second half of next year as the serial production of the systems increases in Russia and as these missile systems enter service with the Russian Strategic Forces.
In his turn, Belarusian dictator Alexander Lukashenko declared an "unprecedented level of strategic alliance".
"Life itself makes us pay special attention to the defense capabilities of our states. With the signing today of the Security Concept of the Union State and the interstate treaty on security guarantees, we are reaching an unprecedented level of strategic alliance and coordination in the military sphere. This will help prevent violations of the territorial integrity of Belarus and Russia, preserve sovereignty and independence, and most importantly, create guarantees of peaceful life for our citizens," Lukashenko said.
