Scythian gold returns to Ukraine

The Supreme Court of the Netherlands has approved a decision to return to Ukraine gold artifacts from Crimea, known as "Scythian gold," which have been the subject of a legal dispute with Russia for years.

This was reported by the press service of the Office of the President of Ukraine.

"On June 9, 2023, after almost nine years of litigation, the Supreme Court of the Netherlands fully satisfied the demands of Ukraine, represented by the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy, to return priceless museum exhibits from the exhibition "Crimea - a golden island in the Black Sea," the statement said.

Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra will pray for the repose of Ivan Mazepa, who was anathematized by the Russian imperial church, for the first time

On June 11, 2023, a service will be held in the All Saints' Church, which was built at the expense of Ivan Mazepa, to mark the 325th anniversary of the church's consecration.

This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine.

"On this day, for the first time in the history of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, a memorial service will be held for its patron and curate, Ukrainian hetman Ivan Mazepa, who was anathematized by the Russian imperial church for his unwillingness to obey Moscovia during his lifetime," the post says.

It is noted that none of the Ukrainian churches has ever recognized the validity of this anathema, and Ukrainians around the world prayed for his repose. Instead, the Moscow Patriarchate continued to "curse" Mazepa during the time of independent Ukraine, and even after the outbreak of war in 2014.
