Victorious news of 603rd day of war: Ukraine will get more ATACMS, Russia is not confident in defending Crimean bridge due to the ingenuity of Ukrainian forces
Foreign Minister says Ukraine will receive ATACMS on a regular basis, while Ukrainian Armed Forces eliminate notorious militant Babai in Zaporizhzhia region
Russia is not confident in defense of Crimean bridge due to the ingenuity of Ukrainian forces
The Crimean Bridge remains a vital link in supporting Russia's occupation of Crimea and its forces in southern Ukraine. However, Russia is not confident in defending the bridge because of Ukrainian inventions.
This was reported by the UK Ministry of Defense.
It is noted that on October 14, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin said that the damage caused by Ukraine in July 2023 to the Crimean bridge had been repaired ahead of schedule.
"Although fully operational, use of the bridge remains restricted due to procedures enacted following the first Ukrainian attack in October 2022. Trucks and fuel supplies continue to be moved by ferry," the statement said.
"Russian security forces confidence in their ability to protect this large and vulnerable structure will continue to be threatened by the ingenuity of Ukraine’s military and security services," the intelligence added.
Babai killed in Zaporizhzhia region: Russian occupiers called the terrorist "a symbol of the war in Donbas"
Russian militant Alexander Mozhayev, known as Cossack Babai, who was a symbol of the occupation war in Donbas in 2014, was eliminated in Zaporizhzhia region.
This was reported by Ukrainian Armed Forces officer Anatoliy Stefan.
The incident reportedly took place yesterday, 18 October, in the evening on the Zaporizhzhia front.
Alexander Mozhayev was born in 1977 in the Russian city of Belorechensk. He has been a member of the Wolf Hundred Cossack group since the 1990s. He came to prominence during the annexation of Crimea and the war in eastern Ukraine, where he led the Wolf Hundred. In 2014, Babai left Donbas due to disagreements with other militants. His photograph as a symbol of the 'Russian world' was often used to create avatars, T-shirts, mugs, and backpacks. He was also featured in a propaganda video for a song about Babai, who scared NATO, etc.
Mozhayev subsequently moved to the Krasnodar Krai of the Russian Federation, where he was convicted for marijuana possession. But Babai avoided prison by paying a fine. When Russia launched a full-scale war, Mozhayev reappeared on Ukrainian territory.
Germany is preparing a winter aid package for Ukraine
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has said that his country is preparing a winter military aid package for Ukraine, including air defense equipment.
This was reported by Tagesschau.
"Everything that is needed for air defense is important," Scholz said.
It is noted that Germany will supply Ukraine with an additional unit of the Patriot air defense missile system, new Iris-T systems, new Gepard anti-aircraft tanks and new ammunition.
Ukraine will receive more ATACMS
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has agreed with US President Joe Biden to supply these missiles on a regular basis.
This was announced by Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba.
"Ukraine's acquisition of ATACMS missiles on a permanent basis is a direct outcome of the agreement between President Zelenskyy and President Biden, which was solidified during their personal meeting in Washington in late September. Less than a month has passed, and we are already witnessing tangible results," the minister said.
Russia loses 15 helicopters after strike on airfields in Berdyansk and Luhansk
Valeriy Riabykh, military expert and development director of the information and consulting company Defense Express, said it is highly likely that Russia lost 15 helicopters at 2 airfields on the night of October 17 as a result of a missile attack
He shared the information on Espreso TV.
"It will take time to determine the effectiveness of strikes on enemy airfields near Luhansk and Berdyansk. In Berdyansk, the occupiers themselves provided some information for analysis, so it was possible to determine the approximate number of destroyed helicopters at that airport. As for Luhansk, the invaders were more cautious, or perhaps they could not film anything, but we still have objective information in the form of satellite images," commented the development director at Defense Express.
According to him, Defense Express experts have analyzed the latest satellite images from Planet Labs, which were published on the Internet.
"It should be noted that at the airfield near Luhansk, where the army helicopters were based, it is possible to identify that they were Ka-52 attack helicopters. The images also show that there is a high probability that 5 helicopters were hit at this airfield. And if we look at the airfield near Berdyansk, according to various estimates, up to 10 helicopters were destroyed there. Accordingly, the figure of 15 helicopters lost by the enemy is significant," emphasized the military expert.
