US Ambassador to UN: China will cross 'red line' if it provides weapons to Russia
The US has warned China against making a decision to provide Russia with lethal military assistance
This was stated by US Permanent Representative to the United Nations Linda Thomas-Greenfield in an interview with CNN.
"We welcome the Chinese announcement that they want peace because that’s what we always want to pursue in situations like this. But we also have to be clear that if there are any thoughts and efforts by the Chinese and others to provide lethal support to the Russians in their brutal attack against Ukraine, that that is unacceptable. That would be a red line," she said.
According to Thomas-Greenfield, the US views China as an adversary and is ready to compete with it and, when necessary, confront it.
"And that’s what we’re doing. And that’s what we will continue to do to ensure that our national interests are always at the forefront," the US Ambassador emphasized.

On February 18, the Wall Street Journal reported that despite the sanctions, Russia continues to import civilian Chinese DJI drones through its distributors and from the Gulf countries.

And US officials claimed that China could be providing non-lethal military aid to Russia for use in Ukraine, including uniforms and even bulletproof vests. So, after that, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken warned Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi that if the country supported Russia's armed aggression, it would face "serious consequences for interstate relations."
