Belarus inspects combat readiness of the armed forces, while Ukrainian soldiers have repelled 34 Russian attacks in the Donetsk region

The Ukrainian Armed Forces' General Staff reported this.

On April 12, invading Russian forces launched 19 airstrikes and over 10 attacks with multiple launch rocket systems at Ukrainian positions and civilian infrastructure, injuring people.

Despite numerous losses, Russia is attacking at the Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Marinka directions. 34 enemy assaults were repelled by the Ukrainian Armed Forces over the day.

Near the state Ukrainian border with Russia and Belarus, the situation hasn't changed significantly, and no enemy offensive groups have been detected. The troops of the Russian Armed Forces remain stationed in Belarus. The combat readiness of Belarus’ army units is being inspected.

“Individual formations and units have been brought to the highest levels of combat readiness. The inspected units were manned to strength by conscripting reserve servicemen,” the General Staff said in their daily update.

At the same time, the Russian Federation continued shelling Ukrainian border areas: 3 settlements in the Chernihiv region, 7 more in the Sumy region, as well as 6 villages in the Kharkiv region were attacked.

Russian attacks in other Ukrainian regions:

In the Kupiansk direction, 5 settlements in the Kharkiv region came under shelling.

In the Lyman direction, 5 localities in the Luhansk region were subjected to Russian artillery fire.

In the Bakhmut sector, the invading Russian forces continue to attack Bakhmut, trying to take full control of the city. The Ukrainian Armed Forces repelled about 18 attacks. 8 localities in the Donetsk region were shelled.

In the Avdiivka and Marinka directions, Ukraine's Defense Forces repelled 14 enemy attacks. 10 localities in the Donetsk region were subjected to Russian shelling.

In the Shakhtarsk direction, the Russian army attacked 7 settlements in the Donetsk region.

In the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions, 13 towns and villages were attacked by the invading Russian forces.

Russian forces set up bases in schools in the Kherson region, humanitarian crisis is brewing

Occupying Russian forces continue to use educational institutions in the temporarily occupied territories for their own purposes, setting up their military facilities in them, and hiding behind a 'human shield' – schoolchildren and teachers.

For example, in recent days, units of mobilized Russian soldiers have arrived in the town of Skadovsk, Kherson region. The personnel are placed in the buildings of educational institutions. At the same time, the occupying troops are forcing the teachers to continue the educational process with compulsory attendance of children.

At the same time, a humanitarian crisis is brewing in Skadovsk, temporarily occupied by Russia, due to the shortage of medicines. The Russian occupation 'authorities' have significantly limited the supply of all types of medicines to pharmacies.

Ukrainian Armed Forces destroyed a Russian drone and a radar station

Over the last day, Ukrainian aviation launched 6 strikes on the invading Russian troops' military positions. A Russian Orlan-10 UAV was also shot down.

Missile and artillery units hit 4 manpower concentration areas, an enemy munitions depot, and a radar station.

  • Earlier, the Ukrainian Armed Forces destroyed a Russian command post in the temporarily occupied Skadovsk district.

  • The Ukrainian Armed Forces' General Staff reported that the invading Russian troops are attacking in the Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Marinka directions. However, the AFU repelled 72 attacks, hit areas where Russian soldiers were concentrated, and shot down two enemy drones.
