Ukrainian Armed Forces have repelled 72 Russian attacks, enemy troops aim to take total control over Bakhmut, AFU General Staff reports 

The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported this in a morning summary on April 12.

Despite numerous losses in equipment and manpower, the Russian army continues its offensive operations on the Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Marinka directions. 

However, Ukrainian troops repelled 72 Russian attacks in these areas yesterday.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces shot down 2 drones and hit 2 electronic warfare stations and areas of invaders' concentration

On April 11, the aviation of the Defense Forces launched 13 strikes on the areas of the occupiers' personnel and military equipment concentration.

Ukrainian defenders also shot down 2 Russian Orlan-10 UAVs.

Missile and artillery units hit 5 areas of troops, weapons and military equipment concentration, as well as 2 Russian electronic warfare stations.

Russia launched 33 MLRS attacks and 21 air strikes against Ukraine

Over the last day, the Russian forces carried out launched 1 missile and 21 air strikes, fired 33 times from multiple launch rocket systems at the positions of Ukrainian troops and civilian infrastructure.

Situation in the following sectors

The operational situation in the Northern and Northeastern Ukrainian borders remains unchanged. 

“Certain units of Russian territorial troops remain in Belarus. Russia maintains enhanced military presence in its Kursk and Belgorod oblasts bordering Ukraine, and continues to harden defensive positions there,” the General Staff notes.

Over the past day, the occupying Russian forces attacked 3 settlements in Chernihiv region, 2 in Sumy region, and 11 in Kharkiv region.

In the Kupyansk direction, 10 localities in the Kharkiv region and 1 in Luhansk region came under hostile fire.

In the Lyman direction, Russian troops unsuccessfully assaulted 2 localities in the vicinity of Donetsk and Luhansk. 

Three localities in the Luhansk region and three in Donetsk region came under artillery fire.

In the Bakhmut direction, the Russian army keeps attacking, trying to take full control of the city of Bakhmut, the fighting continues. 

Over the past day, Russia made unsuccessful offensives near Bohdanivka. 

18 localities in the Donetsk region suffered from Russian shelling.

In the Avdiivka and Marinka directions, Russian troops carried out offensive operations in the area of 4 settlements in Donetsk region, but they failed.

The fiercest fighting continues for Marinka. 

12 localities in the Donetsk region were subject to enemy shelling.

In the Vuhledar direction, the Russian forces did not carry out any offensives over the past day. They shelled 6 localities in the Donetsk region.

Russian troops continue to be on the defensive in the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions.

Over 30 localities in Donetsk region, Zaporizhzhia region, Kherson region and also the city of Kherson were under fire over the past day.
