Ukrainian army destroys 1,040 Russian soldiers, 3 aircraft, 36 artillery systems per day - General Staff

The total combat losses of the Russian Federation from February 24, 2022 to December 23, 2023 are estimated to be:

General Staff's report

In the area of the northern Ukrainian border with Belarus, the operational situation has not changed.

In the northeastern border area, the Russian army maintains a military presence in the border areas, conducts active sabotage activities to prevent the deployment of Ukrainian troops to threatened areas, and increases the density of minefields along the state border in the Belgorod region.

In the Kupyansk direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled 16 Russian attacks near Synkivka, Kharkiv region, where the Russian army tried to break through the defense of Ukrainian troops.

The Russian forces did not conduct any offensive actions in the Lyman direction.

In the Bakhmut direction, Ukrainian troops repulsed 8 attacks near Bohdanivka, Ivanivske, Klishchiivka and Andriivka in the Donetsk region.

In the Avdiivka direction, Ukrainian defenders continue to hold back the Russian enemy, who keeps trying to surround Avdiivka. Ukraine's soldiers are steadfastly holding the line, inflicting significant losses on the invaders. The Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 23 hostile attacks east of Novobakhmutivka, Stepove, Avdiivka, as well as 17 attacks in the areas of Pervomaiske and Nevelske in the Donetsk region.

In the Marinka direction, the Defense Forces continue to hold back the Russian enemy in the areas of Marinka and Pobieda in the Donetsk region, where they repelled 4 attacks.

In the Shakhtarsk direction, the Ukrainian Armed Forces rebuffed a Russian attack west of Staromayorske, Donetsk region.

In the Zaporizhzhia direction, Ukraine's forces repelled all adversary attacks west of Verbove and Robotyne in the Zaporizhzhia region.

At the same time, in the Melitopol direction, the Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to inflict losses in manpower and equipment on the occupation forces, depleting the Russian enemy along the entire front line.

In the Kherson direction, Ukrainian troops continue to expand their foothold. Despite the setbacks, the Russian forces did not abandon their intention to drive Ukrainian units out of their positions and made 17 unsuccessful assault operations. They received a decent rebuff and retreated with losses. Ukraine's defenders are conducting counter-battery combat, inflicting fire on Russia's rear.

The Russian army launched a missile and 40 air strikes on the Ukrainian territory 

Over the past day, there were 75 combat clashes. In total, Russia launched 1 missile and 40 air strikes, fired 57 times from multiple launch rocket systems at Ukrainian troop positions and populated areas.

Yesterday, Russian aggressors once again attacked Ukraine using 23 Shahed-136/131 UAVs. Air defense destroyed 19 attack drones.

1 locality in the Chernihiv region, 1 in the Kharkiv region, 7 in the Donetsk region, 2 in the Zaporizhzhia region, and 1 in th Kherson region were hit by air strikes.

About 110 settlements in the Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Kherson and Mykolaiv regions came under artillery fire.

Defense Forces destroyed 2 ammunition depots and 2 Russian control points

Over the past day, the aviation of Ukraine's Defense Forces struck 12 areas of Russian personnel, weapons and military equipment concentration. Air defense also destroyed 3 Su-34 fighter-bombers.

Missile troops struck 5 areas of personnel, weapons and military equipment concentration, 2 ammunition depots and 2 Russian control points.

  • The Ukrainian Air Defense Forces destroyed all nine Shahed drones within the Odesa and Khmelnytskyi regions.
