Ukrainian paratroopers repel attacks near Mariinka and target two enemy infantry fighting vehicles
On Tuesday, February 21, the Russian enemy lost manpower and two armored personnel carriers during an attack near Mariinka
The command of the Air Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported this on Facebook.
"Paratroopers of the 79th Air Assault Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine successfully repelled enemy attacks near Mariinka. The enemy recently launched a night assault on the positions of the Maroon Berets from Mykolaiv. A convoy of 4 vehicles, consisting of a tank and three armoured personnel carriers, suddenly started moving rapidly in the middle of the night towards the front line of the Ukrainian defence forces. The enemy tried to take Mykolaiv paratroopers by surprise. However, the intelligence detected the enemy in time and the soldiers took up the fight," the statement said.
In addition, one enemy BMP-2 vehicle hit a mine and could no longer continue to move. Our fighters subsequently shot it from a grenade launcher.
When another infantry fighting vehicle approached it to evacuate the troops, it was targeted by a precise shot from a Javelin anti-tank system. After the ammunition detonated, the turret of the combat vehicle was blown off.
The enemy retreated after losing two vehicles and the troops in the battle.
